"I just wanted to email to thank your organization for putting on this event! My son and I heard about it and by only walking up and down our block we picked up 300 butts! We were both amazed by how much garbage was out there, and we’ve been out picking up garbage in our neighbourhood since then.

The money is a nice bonus but cleaning up our beautiful city is the real reward.

Thank you for your time, energy and patience.
- C.N & J.N

Jam One in the Can... it's all about butts.
We are sharing $3500 - Cash for Trash!
Come sign the petition to make this a daily reality

September 4th, 11 to 4
1720 Cook Street (@ North Park)

This Love Where You Live BC special event is to raise awareness, and reduce harm to our environment from Tobacco Related Pollution, while promoting and supporting local charities in our community.

We invite you to participate in a new approach to environmental clean-up: Turning Trash to CA$H!
We will still be modeling what happens when there is a refundable deposit
on cigarette butts and cigar tips when we give you cash for trash.
Bring in the butts and trade them for cash at Jam One in the Can.
We send the butts in for recycling, and when we send cigarette butts for recycling,
we receive a credit and can donate this credit to a non-profit or charity.

Go time: Grab gloves and tongs and start removing cigarette pollution from our beaches, parks and public spaces. Trust me, you won't have to far before you find more than you can collect!
Collect them and CA$H IN when you bring them to
Come Jam One in the Can, and dedicate to your butts to a favourite local non-profit.

Here is how it works:

We are sharing $3500:
$2500 in Instant Cash awards; $500 Grand Prize draw; $500 towards local Charity/ Non-profits

When you bring in a 1000 butts and cigar tips you will choose an envelope with Instant Cash
(inside is $5, $10, $20 or $50)

Instant Cash winners must sign a receipt. Limit one instant cash award per person.
Grand Prize winner and $50 instant Cash winners must agree to their picture and name being used for promotional purposes
Prizes must be claimed by Thirty (30) days from first contact. This soft plastic recycling drop off activity is limited to cigarette butts, cigar tips and cellophane wrap. DO NOT include lighters, boxes, aluminum foil, beer or soda cans, hockey pucks, lipstick tubes, road flares or other items. Cigarette butts may be damp, but not soaking wet, Love Where You Live BC will determine the suitability of the contribution.

You will be entered into a Grand Prize draw worth $500
If you bring about 2 cups/ half a litre, you will get an entry into the grand prize draw. If you bring in 1000, a little more than a litre and a half, you will get an Instant Cash reward and three entries into the Grand Prize draw. For every additional half litre of cigarette butts and cigar tips will get you an additional entry into the Grand Prize draw.
.
When you bring in more butts, you get more entries, for every 1000 butts
8000 butts = 12 entries for the $500 Grand Prize

Dedicate your butts to a local Charity or Non-profit and we will divide $500 with them
Some conditions apply

We will be practicing mandatory masking and social distancing.
Please follow the instructions by volunteers

Gorge Waterway Clean up
Gorge Waterway, Selkirk Green Park

Join us at the iconic Gorge Waterway Clean-Up! Every year, volunteers pitch in to clean up the water and shoreline along the Gorge, improving the habitat for local wildlife. We invite everyone to participate in this important event: Volunteers clean the shoreline, and a volunteer dive team retrieves debris from the water. Bring boots and gloves or borrow ours!
