Our Story

LoveWhereYouLiveBC fosters neighbourhood pride through Canadian litter reduction and eco-stewardship initiatives. Our Victoria-based grassroots organization sprung from a need for​ social responsibility. We received a Neighbourhood Small Grant from the Victoria & Vancouver Foundations in 2015.
     LWYLBC targets Tobacco-Related Pollution (TRP). TRP is the largest contributor to environmental plastic pollution. Canada sells enough cigarettes to pave a sidewalk from Victoria BC to St. Johns NFL, EVERY YEAR!

Michael Wegner ​leads by demonstrating the solution while others are discussing
the problem. Michael conceived the
cash for trash event "Jam One in the Can...
​it's all about butts" setting a National, and
World records for Environmental Remediation..

Ngoc Chan. is our Trustee and Analytics Advisor. She uses her background in numbers to run information tracking. Ngoc is a member of the Action Team and our Volunteer Coordinator.​​

Harley Gordon has an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Agriculture. He has written and reviewed scientific papers Gordon is currently completing his PhD in forest biology and teaches at UVIC.
